We’re back, with another extra-long episode of See You Next Wednesday!
Today, we’re talking about a ton of Comic-Con news – from the Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad trailers, to movie announcements and Star Wars spin-off solo titles, we’ve got plenty of opinions on the latest and greatest in comic books and movies. Plus, we’re reviewing the movies and television we watched this week, from Cop Land to Damages and so much more.
In Film Roulette, Dan and Greg got to pick their own films (it was a Winner’s Choice week!) and they chose to go check out Minions and San Andreas, respectively. Is the latest animated feature for children a dollar-grab cash in? Can The Rock‘s appearance in a disaster movie elevate the film above the endless sea of similar titles? We’ve got answers for you this week! Plus, we have Casey staying home and figuring out if Backstreet’s back, alright? with the documentary Backstreet Boys: Show ’em What You’re Made Of.
Plus, there’s another rousing game of 9021Oh Yeah Relay! to round out today’s show, where Casey will take us through yet another episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 Season 3!
Whoa! So much to talk about – you better get listening now!

Obviously this is a few weeks late, but I’ve been working a fuck-ton of
hours and since I listen to the show while driving my forklift at work, I often forget to go on the site and post that day. I had a few things I had to mention that I thought were funny or interesting.
1. I was hitting my vape (yes, I vape, so if you want to give me shit go right on ahead after your discussion on TB about difficulty on quitting smoking) right when Casey mentioned Harry Potter and saying it was based on…, and Greg blurts out “Books, Casey. They are based on books!!”. I swallowed a huge hit of vapor and laughed simultaneously which ended up in me choking/coughing/tearing for about 5 minutes. It was hilarious to me, but I felt I had to tell you guys.
2. Regarding the Han Solo film, I’ve read and/or listened to audiobooks of probably 60+ of the extended Star Wars universe novels. Three of which were the Han Solo trilogy, written by Ann C. Crispin. They were released in 97-98, and IMO are pretty awesome, the first is Han as a teen, and the last page of the 3rd is him going to meet some people that need transport off Tatooine. I don’t know if you guys ever have time to read but they are at least interesting stories about a character that we all love, and they aren’t huge books. I just felt it was a shame they decided that they weren’t going to use any of the already written narrative that exists for any of the future films. I love the hell out of the Star Wars universe, flaws and all. I don’t know, just wanted to let you know about that in case you ever had an urge to read something easy about Han. I have the audiobooks now since I’m blind as fuck due to a retinal disease and can’t read well, and they have sound effects and everything, it’s pretty cool.
Sorry for the long post, but I’m gonna post on next weeks right now as well.

Something I find perpetually fascinating about SYNW is the degree to which Greg connects a superhero property’s ability to get the costume right directly to its ability to get the whole thing right. It happens repeatedly, today’s Daredevil conversation being the latest example – talking about season 2, let’s not talk about the story or the tone or any of that, but “they’d better fix the suit.”
I almost want to have Greg on Mamo one of these days to discuss in depth, because a) I couldn’t give less of a fuck about costuming as an element of any superhero movie, I just want the story to actually work, and b) I think this ties into fan culture in an interesting way, with respect to our recent conversations around Comic Con, expectation overtaking actual product as a saleable commodity, and the way “news” is dribbled down to the masses by basically appealing to the geekiest common denominator and working its way outward.
Anyway, I dunno, let’s talk n’ stuff

I don’t think we need to talk together I kind of like the fact that we just keep getting mentioned over and over during this episode. But for reals yeah we should collabo as much as possible.

Hey, I listen to MAMO too much to recite the thought-seeds that get planted into my mind afterwards to let you guys go un-referenced! Most of the time you guys say what I’d like to better than I could, so I might as well just quote ya’ll.
Also, I want to hear this episode because the Greg/Guardians episode was fan-fuckin’-tastic!

Collabo?
You’re going with “collabo?”

I stand by collabo
