You can chase her, hunt her, send a T-1000 after her, or trick her into revisiting LV-426, but mess with her baby and she’ll fuck you up. That’s right, folks! This week we’re looking at badass mamas Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor with Aliens VS Terminator 2: Judgement Day. We’re tracing a line from Ripley’s career-driven origins to her surrogate motherhood of orphan Newt, while following Sarah Connor from flighty waitress to Amazonian warrior. But what makes these women tick? And what do Aliens and Terminator 2 say about society’s compulsion for procreation? You’ll have to tune it to find out!
On Saturday, April 7th we’ll be at the Revue Cinema for an all-nighter! CAMH‘s One Brave Night For Mental Health is nearly upon us, and our team, Jamie Dew’s A Show of Strength, will be hosting a triple feature to help raise funds and awareness for mental health. The team is currently ranked #25 out of 458 teams across Canada with $2,525 raised thus far. There’s been a huge response, and it’s all thanks to Jamie’s hard work. Please consider donating what you can to our page, or directly to the team – it’s all going to the same place! If you’re in Toronto next weekend, come on down to the Revue! There will be free Starbucks coffee all night long courtesy of Starbucks Canada, the first 100 guests will receive a free tea gift certificate from David’s Tea, and there are tons of raffle prizes to be won from David’s Tea, Elevation Pictures, Govan Brown and many more! Just check out the Facebook event for all the amazing details! Keep up with all the great event news with the hashtag #OneBraveNightA3F on Twitter and Facebook!
