To start off 2017, we wanted to do something special. So, in the spirit of going big or going home, we decided to take a look at “The Shining”, The Shining, and, you guessed it, The Shining! That’s right, folks, we’re pitting the novel against the King-supervised miniseries, and Kubrick’s vastly divisive masterpiece. So whether or not you’ve read the book, attended therapy to try and forget the miniseries, or think Kubrick walks on water, join us as we check into the Overlook, and discuss issues with adaptation in The Shining.
Also this week, in honour of the late Carrie Fisher, we get frank about mental illness. As we both live with depression and anxiety, we felt it important to speak openly about the way these issues affect our lives. If you’re struggling with anxiety, or depression, or know someone who is, visit the links below. We hope you find them helpful. And remember, it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help; it’s a sign of being seriously kickass.
