Episode 119 – Boyhood, The Double & Battlefield Earth

Casey sees double (literally!) when he goes to see Richard Ayoade’s The Double. Then, Dan watches 20 years of some kid’s life in Boyhood and Greg looses the battle with Battlefield Earth.

Afterwards, they discuss some flaccid Canadian hip hop with Swollen Members’ new album, Brand New Day.

All this plus classic SYNW segments like 9021Oh Yeah! Relay recap, TV Dad Cage Match, a new segment we’ve dubbed The King Ring and more!

The person who wrote the script for this distanced himself from the entire project when he saw how much Travolta changed it, sent out an apology for it, and had to write under an assumed name for years later because of his connection to it. If it makes any difference, it follows the book about as much as Kubrick’s Shining does. I consider it to be Travolta’s ego set out to play with a nearly unlimited budget. Rifftrax make this movie watchable for parties.
