Episode 102 – Philomena, The Hunt & Pompeii

This week Greg and Casey are allowed to see whatever they want and choose The Hunt and Philomena, respectively. Then Dan lets Pompeii wash over him like a wave of hot, boring lava.

All this plus some feverish nerding out over the new Guardians of the Galaxy and Godzilla trailers, and the super special announcement of the NEW CAGE MATCH! This is history in the making.

Also, don’t forget to check out the Flesh + Blood: The Films of Paul Verhoeven retrospective at TIFF Lightbox Theatre from Jan 24th – April 4th.

Also the Matt Lee Vincent references. He is kind of like the Mark Ruffalo of podcasts. Every one is improved by more of him.

Just finished listening. Well done fellas. Looking forward to sitcom Dad swap cage match Thunderdome to the graveyard dead edition corner. Really enjoyed the pee party hilariousness and whatever Greg was doing in Mexico in the back of a van . Keep up the good work.

Absolutely. As I mentioned on the show, I pretty much would have no sense of humour at all, if not for his contributions to a handful of films passed on to me via my Dad. Subsequently, I wouldn’t have gotten interested in movies in general, probably wouldn’t have gone to film school (and then bailed on that whole thing), and even more subsequently, wouldn’t have a podcast about movies to talk about this kind of stuff openly – and then wouldn’t be writing this very comment right now. Kind of nuts.

Yup. Think I will be for a while. It’s weird when one of these deaths comes out of the woodwork and makes you realize that someone meant so much more to you than you might have casually thought. It’s a fucking shame. I wish it didn’t take a death for me to sit and genuinely reflect on how substantial a contribution Harold Ramis made to my life.
