To celebrate one year of ridiculous, awesome fun, we decided to do something totally different. What better way to celebrate than to welcome our gracious hosts as our first ever guests, and talk some trash?! Casey Lyons, Dan Gorman, and Greg LeGros came over to A Frame Apart headquarters and shot the shit with Bob and I about some of their favourite pieces of Trash cinema. The See You Next Wednesday crew and Bob curated lists of their top five Trash flicks of all time, as I guided the discussion. We wanted to have a good time for this episode, and boy did we have one!
You may recall, we’ve talked Trash before! Episode 4 of the show back in August 2016 took a look at Ed Wood’s Plan 9 From Outer Space versus the now iconic Miami Connection, and the legacy of Trash cinema. In June 2016, Ariel wrote One Person’s Trash: Divergent Perspectives on Trash Cinema for Toronto Film Scene. It’s a fun, goofy, almost always incomprehensible genre, and seemed like the perfect fit to mark our first year!
At the top of the show, Bob pays his respects to the late, great George Romero, who passed away on July 16th. His is a mark that changed the world, and we will forever be grateful for his history-defining contribution.
For the past year, we at A Frame Apart have been so fortunate that anyone anywhere has listened to anything we have to say. What’s more, people have actually enjoyed what we’ve had to say! With just shy of 5,000 listens worldwide in over 50 countries, we could not be more proud.
We started this little podcast out of frustration. We had so much to say, yet we never really felt like we had the right medium to express ourselves. Enter A Frame Apart. Not only did it serve as a wonderful way to explore film in a deeper, stranger, and more interesting way, but, most importantly, it allowed us to have fun. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely while making this show, and feel a great deal of pride and gratitude whenever someone tells us they enjoy it. To everyone who’s tuned in, shared us with their friends or family, subscribed on iTunes, written a review, shot us a message, or really just engaged with us or the show in any way, we thank you. We would not be here if it weren’t for our listeners!
