Finally I remember to mention that I worked on a described video version of Just Before Dawn several years ago – yes, with description for people who are vision-impaired. I can’t believe you guys have been talking about it, of all things. It was one of a bunch of movies this guy got for the company I used to work for (there were freakier ones). I did production; a friend of mine actually had to write the description, but I think it was his first time doing that for us (poor thing), so I did script editing. First off, it was challenging for most of it because there was sooooo muuuuch spaaaace with just creepy forest sounds and not much of anything happening in between the parts where stuff happened. And then we had to deal with that final kill. Holy fuck! Our print was dark, and I think it was dark anyway, so we were squinting going IS THAT WHAT REALLY FUCKING HAPPENS? and once we concluded that YES IT IS we had to figure out how to actually get that into a person’s head to understand YES THAT’S WHAT REALLY FUCKING HAPPENS. We still toss up that title in conversation and have to laugh.

Haha, wow, this is amazing. One of my favourite slashers of all time, so hearing about it from this angle is super fascinating. Thanks for not spoiling that ending moment, but I’m 100% with you; the first time I watched the film, when that happens, I let out a guttural HOLY FUCK yelp. Wonderful.

I found a first generation DVD copy in Honest Ed’s years ago. It’s widescreen, but you have to backwards engineer your monitor to show it in 16 x 9.
